Default Any one jump from a B6 S4 to B7 A4, or vice versa?

I currently have the B7A4, but I test drove a B7S4 yesterday, and now I'm determined to have an S4. I found a 2005 S4 available for 43k (has most every option - excluding NAV). The car only has 10,000 miles on it. It also has the remainder of the factory warranty 4yrs / 50,000 mi with also the extended 2yr / 50k mi cpo warranty.

Anyone have any thoughts about going from the B7A4 to a B6S4?

Default performance...i think the B7 looks slightly better, but i dont in anyway dislike the B6

I haven't done any mods to the B7A4, and i probably won't do anything until the warranty is up. so, the K04 is out of the question for me.

Be prepared to fill the car quite a bit more.

Default I went B5 A4 2.8 Quattro to B7 S4 (with a quick stop at C6 A6 in between)

We also have a B6 Cabriolet (3.0 Quattro). The S4 blows them all away. Also, I'm much happier with the A4-sized car.

But, yes, it is thirsty. However, if you're worried about what the gas costs, you can't afford the car.

Default A lot of us consider it, some do it, I'll probably wind up doing it..

If I did it, a couple of things would change - 1) my insurance goes up about 600 bucks a year, and 2) my fuel expenses would go up, in my estimation about the same amount.

The main reason I got the 2.0T in the first place, is that with mild mods the car is reasonably quick and still gets great mileage.

The main reason I like the V8 is that I prefer NA motors - turbos are fun, but the mild boost lag and sensitivity to the 91 octane California gas make the V8 tempting.

B6 S4's are a good deal compared to B7's, since they have the same important bits. If I got a B6 S4, I'd get the RSN-E satnav installed, and go to Stasis for a rear torque bias diff (among other things), and deal with having the older style no problem.

Default I'd be dumb to say the cost of gas didn't matter to me...

but an extra couple bucks on gas each year won't kill me and its entirely expected(500 to 1000 or so extra is what im guessing).

i think my main concern is buying a used car - ive always bought new. since this is a cpo still warranted for a while (4 yrs or 40,000 miles left on the warranty) it takes a little of the concern away.

oh, and im sure i'll get many speeding tickets - its a brilliant red S4....haha...

im gonna go test drive it tomorrow after work

Default K04 the B7 or wait for the Stg3. to be released.

K04'd b7 keeps up pretty good to b6s4.

Default The car is overpriced, but yeah B6 S4 would be money...

especially in Nogaro Blue it's a hit w/o a second thought.

Default For what I paid for my car, I found several '05 and even a few '06 S4s, but ultimately

I chose the A4 because a) I love having a new car that has only ever been mine, and b) like Bauer and others mentioned, the gas factor. I just couldn't justify the ding at the pump w/ the V8. W/ the APR chip, I can get almost 450 miles out of a tank if I'm driving gently and doing primarily freeway driving. No way I'd get that from the V8.

Now, in two years, have this conversation with me when I'm looking at CPO RS4s
