Default Interested in buying a 2006 A4 loaner

The dealer price is $29,870 each for several cars with 17" wheels, sunroof, heated seats, automatic, quattro. I've looked at each on the outside and they're in exceptional condition with new tires. The cars have almost 3.5 years left on original warranty and then another two years on CPO. I can also get 36-mo financing at 2.9%. Is this a good price, or do you think I can do better through negotiation? If so, what do you think a fair price should be? I would like to buy from this dealer because I've had good experience with the service dept. Any advice on pricing would be appreciated. Thanks!

Default How many miles does it have on it?

Any dents, scratches, etc? Personally, I wouldn't go for it based on what you've written...unless you can bring the price down a bit more and have free maintenance thrown into the mix

Default When I was 16, my older cousin introduced me to "Everyday is abuse the rental car day"...

it was in a Buick Sommerset Regal, and that poor thing was at the end of its rope with 8k miles on it. My sister turned around and bought a Jeep Cherokee from Enterprise car sales, and the legendary bullet proof Jeep 4.2 straight 6 **** the bed because of the abuse is sustained in its rental life...don't do it. People rent cars by the hour, you wouldn't marry a hooker, would you?

They're including standard maintenance through the original warranty (apparently standard on '06 models). I took a brief look at all the cars and they seem to be in exceptional condition, inside and out, with new tires. They were all in service from May '06 through mid-December and, as I recall, mileage ranges from about 3800 to 6500. Most have black interiors, although two had tan interiors that also looked like they were in good condition. Essentially, I'd be getting a nearly 5.5 year, 100K mile warranty on the car, so my inclination is to go for the deal if I can get more off. Does $28K sound right, or could go lower? Thanks for the advice.

Default I'd consider it

I rent cars for 12 or 16 weeks of the year, and I don't abuse them. Besides, how much can you abuse a 2.0T Tip? Beyond all that, you get a 5-year warranty.

I haven't bought a used car in a while, but I'd consider it. That A4 new has got to be 36K or so.

Good luck and welcome.

defenitely don't buy it for the price they ask. i got mine new a year ago, none quattro though but with bose, xenon lights for 31k. it had 52miles on it. go to 27-28k top depending on the miles.

Default So there's more than one

makes me wonder just how motiviated the dealer might be to sell the loaners. 28K is not bad, but I would be inclined to go lower.

Something to consider: the loaners have suffered a 1st year depreciation, 3800 - 6500 miles of potential abuse (granted, not everyone is abusive with loaners), an unknown engine break-in process, etc. The price should be dropped just a bit more IMO.

Default I would never buy a loaner or demo. These cars are never broken in properly and often abused

by the loanees.
