Default some a4 questions

i'm thinking of moving from my b6 s4 avant into an s-line 2.0t avant. though i realize this is a step down in some ways, i feel like the 2.0t is better value, especially when you consider the gas mileage and insurance cost.

questions:
1) how reliable is this engine with a chip? Have there been any turbo failures on engines with the APR chip? (this seems like the best choice from what i've read). is there a documented failure rate?

2)what kind of performance figures can I expect from a chipped car? (quarter mile? 0 - 60?)

3) how hard is it to find a fully-loaded titanium s-line avant in black? would i have to order this car, or is it possible to find on a dealer lot?

thanks

Default I've only had the APR 91 Octane program on our B7 for only a few weeks...

but it rocks! I don't have actual numbers, but considering that before the program, our B7 2.0T QT could never keep up with our 2006 A3 2.0T DSG, but now, it can, I think that 0-60 should be in the same neighborhood as the A3. Should be around 6.7 seconds for the sedan. Avant would be a tad longer.

No idea on longevity yet, obviously, but the engine seems pretty solid. We have almost 25K miles on the A3 with no issues <knock on wood>.

I have had mine chipped for about 10,000 miles and have had zero issues. I am running the APR 93 program and my best 1/4 mile was 14.06.

I added a test pipe about a month ago and it opened the car up even more. While I have not been to the track with the pipe I would guess I should be able to run high 13's as others have posted similiar times.

FYI: I have a manual trany. If you do a search I believe there are some 1/4 mile times posted.

The S4 is a great car. I like my A4 but I think the only way to get comparable power to a S4 would be to run the K04 from what I have seen.

Good luck with your decision..

Long term reliability can't be confirmed as is was for the 1.8, since few 2.0's have, say, 100,000 miles, chipped or not. But mine is another that has about 10K miles, chipped (GIAC) with zero reliability/driveability issues. Gas mileage remains a strong suit, at slightly over 30 on the highway, and 26-28 with my daily use. Clearly the best combo of efficiecy and power available.

The disadvantage of going fromn S4 to 2.0 A4 is engine sound. The S4's SWEET sound just isn't there with the 2.0. :-(

To get a manual 2.0 Avant, I had to order, and I'd do it again. Well worth the wait.

what is everyone's beef w the 2.0T engine sound ?

I've seen reviews that label it as rough.

I like it better than the 1.8t. The 1.8t sounded
like a grunting fat pig.

The 2.0T makes these little ticking noises,
but that is OK. It almost sounds like a diesel.

And it just revs forevah. I end up driving mine
like a diesel. There is almost no reason ever
to go above 5000rpm
