Probably keep going up. Especially to differ from the S4.

Default let me ask you a of c

in your opinion, do you think its feasible to obtain an s5 for alil under msrp. Im looking to go sprint blue/automatic with nav and sound system. With destination, im looking at 57500. I would be looking to go 57000 for it with free tints and audi care. Your expertise would be greatly appreciated! ofcourse it all depends on the v6 pricing but if it was today, what would you think>

Default most pay have paid manufacturer, you should be able to get 1000 off now.

A5 you have a better chance at getting discount. Someone got 1% over invoice.

Default Depends on the car

If its a strange car that has limited appeal, IE like a sprint blue or red. Definitely, the first buyer is the right buyer on a car like that. Something more desireable...if they have the market for it that's tougher. We're still doing list on S5s here. An A5 is different matter.

Default Here's my take on pricing ....

I've had 9 Audis and 7 BMWs, and love both brands. The reason that you are seeing so many BMWs on the road right now in this economy, and Audi is struggling, is that BMW has the sense to discount their cars and offer great financing and incentives! Why the hell isn't Audi doing the same? The economy sucks and no one is buying new cars!!! I just bought a new BMW 328xi for my wife at $500 > invoice, at 0.9% financing and a rebate of $750 off the first two payments (another $1500 off the price) - which equates to $1000 UNDER invoice for the car. Audi offered great lease and other deals on many of their cars (A4 leases are great examples). Last year A4 leases were $379-$400, now they're mid $400's and up! I have a TT and like the car, but if I were in the market for a new car right now, I doubt if Audi could persuade me to buy one. Their pricing is simply off the charts. And I don't get it. Surely, they know what the competition (AKA BMW) is offering. My dealer is frustrated as hell - they're just not selling cars. I was in the showroom last week to have my brake pads changed (3 hour wait) and there was not ONE customer off the street in to look at a car. Not one.

Default this is how the Big 3 have come to a position they are in today

Trying to keep up with past sales by any means necessary. Burns cash at an incredible rate.

German car brands already have it tough with US prices. A 40,000 dollar A4 in the US sells for 40,000 Euro in Germany. Audi would very much rather sell that A4 in Europe and not have to give a 30% discount in order to sell it in the US. This is why it's hard for them to justify even more additional discounts.

Audi and BMW have about equal worldwide sales, but BMW is very reliant on the US market. Audi is outselling BMW in Germany/Western Europe. This means that Audi doesn't have to go out of its way to spend money to chase US sales, but BMW has to discount heavily in the US in order to keep up its sales. This is on top of BMW already dropping the US prices extremely low compared to how they price their cars in Europe.

Default Makes good sense - thanks ...

but it's got to be killing the US Audi dealerships - I know my Audi sales reps are really hurting.

Default Article that talks about this situation

The photo shows that BMW has 4,080 dollars of incentives for its cars in the US. Audi only has 2,566. Mercedes has 4,000+.

It probably is making it tough for the dealers, but the Q5 is coming next month and should be the second best seller.

And Audi has greatly increased its advertising so Audi is spending money to increase US sales.

http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=%2F20090220%2FAUTO01%2F902200381%2F114 8%2Frss25</a
