Just drove a S5 and a C63... What should I get?
Two completely different cars... The S5 was fun, handled great, and is stunning inside and out. The C63 was loud, mean, and insanly fast. You see the S5 coming, but you hear the C63 coming. Both white on black... The S5 was a 6 speed which I love, but on the c63 I didn't miss it. That's a first. I always drive manual.
I was offered 2k off MSRP on this S5... Is that a good deal right now?
I've also read a few places that the S5 is dropping to same V6 as in the new S4. Does anyone know what model year?

You've pretty much said it...
Which one matches your personality the most? Both great cars.
If you end up with the one that doesn't match your personality, you will hate it.
$2k off is probably pretty good. Another post a little further down suggested several more years before chance for V6.

IMO looks-wise, there is no comparison.
The S5 is beautiful, classy, and restrained. The C63 is none of these; it looks chintzy with all its chrome jewelry and vents everywhere. It looks like it's trying much too hard to look good.
As for loudness, adding an aftermarket exhaust to the S5 will bring the two cars very close. There are offerings from GMG, Milltek, AWE, Stasis, and many others. However, as far as power/speed there will never be any comparison between the two. The C63 is brutally fast and you're right, if anyone does automatic transmissions right its Mercedes.
I guess in the end it just depends on how long you want to keep it for. I can see the S5 being a long term car, with more capabilities and looks that will serve you better for longer. The C63 will be an adrenaline rush but in ~2 years you'll probably get bored with it.
And for the answer to your last question, look 3 posts down.

Every time a C63 driver sees my S5 they're drooling.
Change the exhaust on an S5 and it's easily more aggressive than the C63. Plus, in my opinion the C63 exhaust sounds too low, not nearly as exotic as the S5.
Despite the power deficit, the S5 is plenty quick.
Lastly, the C63 (and M3 for that matter) are common, meaning S5 will retain value slightly better.
If you want to smoke tires and slide the rear end, the C63 will not disappoint. For everything else, S5 will do it better.

The S5 of course!. An Italian designed this German car....best of both worlds.
People are always complimenting my A5. If I pay close attention to oncoming drivers, I have noticed that the majority of men are looking at the car. It is one sexy ride. I believe that a V8 S5 will become a classic car to own. Still super rare and will stay that way with this economic slump.
BTW, looks like the 2011 model will get the V6 SC.
