1995 S6 keeps failing emissions ?

Default 1995 S6 keeps failing emissions ?

A 1995 chipped S6 keeps failing emission on all tests - worst on HydroCarbon test.
Has had plugs replaced and O sensor replaced, actually made the test results worse.
No error codes, and drives well.

What to do ? Are there any local shops that can test emissions and make it pass the emissions test ?

Default a couple of things - what chip - maybe you need a update?

also would try a can of BG-44K

No error codes though - wonder if you have some sort of intake or exhaust leaks

Thanks for the reply - should have stated this in the first place.

Already tried the can of 44G - failed first emissions test after this.
Checked for exhaust leaks - no observable problems.

Default tough one - my guess is you need a good mechanic - you might post over in the Ur forum

see if Frank knows anyone

The local shops in Denver (Avalon, 303, etc) and SCR in Loveland might be able to help.

Default I'm guessing the chipset riches up the A/F pretty good, causing unburnt fuel....

Default Hydro carbons are unburnt fuel, are you sure it has a Cat? Also...

Check your air filter if it is clogged you will run rich, make sure MAF is clean, and are your plugs the right temp range?

Default Carbon buildup on valves is likely on cars with lots of mileage.

Take a look at your printout, if HC shoot up on decel, carbon is a likely cause.
Maybe try a un-chipped ecu...retest after retest does get old......

Default Finally passed !

#6 was the charm

I took it to my exhaust guy, he actually checked the cats by drilling in to them (if they
are not bad, he just welds up the hole)... the right side cat was half gone
and the left was on its way. I had them replaced ($500) then drove the car
up and down the interstate at high speeds then went and got it
tested.... amazing how much the numbers came down, on all measures!
