Default Totally effed up and NOT kawf/vB related. The Staten Island "Ninja Burglar" tried to break into...

my parent's house on Friday night.

Those of you who watch the news/read the papers may have heard about him. F'n crazy. He's broken into dozens of homes on Staten Island over the last few years.

He broke open a couple of windows and smashed a pane of glass in a door on a second floor balcony that he scaled the side of the building to get to.

He was scared off when he set off the glass breakage sensors on the alarm.

Police were there all night, a NYPD helicopter, K9 units. What a ****ty feeling.

Default No kidding. The police said that most of the homes he's broken into had alarms, but they were...

NOT ON at the time. F'n idiots.

Thank god for the alarm. It gets a cookie and some upgrades as a reward.

..unfortunately the hard part is catching the thief.

Default Yeah...that totally sucks. Makes you feel a lot less secure

Funny, I live in an area where you could keep your doors unlocked, yet I reinforced doors and windows and I am about to have the alarm installed. Piece of mind when I travel... but still sucks. Almost like owning a B5 or C5 and parking anywhere in the tri-state... just never feel safe.

Default Hahahahaha. Were you drinking last night? That's quite the string of explatives.

He's actually been rather lucky that he hasn't wandered into the wrong house yet considering the "occupations" of many of the people up in those neighborhoods.

Default yeah, it's funny how you get in that mindset. Down at the beach nobody locks their doors or cars.

It's just a very safe neighborhood.

I often get strange looks and comments from friends who grew up there when I lock my car all the time.

I think you're doing the right thing though. It's worth the peace of mind.
