Default Venting - AofA

Can the AofA "customercare" advocates actually do anything or just give you information. After ordering in May 08, I finally got a leave port date of March 18 for my A5. I sold my A6 before leaving the country on a 10 business trip on March 12 thinking I would rent something when I got back til my car showed up. Today AofA calls and says there is another 2 to 3 week delay before it ships. Obviously I have a call into my dealer. I'm sure they'll tell me they are at the mercy of Audi while AofA has already told me they can't interfere in a sales transaction

When I first ordered the car, estimated delivery was Oct 08. By the time it actually arrives, it will be almost a year and I now see 1 or 2 A5s available off dealer lots.

Sorry for the rant, but I was wondering if anyone got any real satisfaction from involving AofA in a problem. By the way, this is my 3rd and probably last Audi.

maybe your dealer delayed placing the order for whatever reason and won't tell you? maybe they got a customer that paid to get to the front of the line?

AoA won't throw them under the bus either, so they'll claim ignorance before they rat on your dealer.

Default No. Actually I'm mad because this is the forth time they've given me a later delivery

date. Also, the original delivery estimate will be off by 6 months. The decision to sell my A6 ahead of getting the A5 was mine and I took the risk.

It won't be your last Audi. It just feels that way right now because you're justifiably upset about the delays. I went through the same thing. So did others. But the car is so damned nice that you'll forgive all when you receive it.

That said, I don't know if A of A can be much help. They weren't a lot of good for me. Mine was European Delivery, though, and the Audi ED staff were actually terrific. When I called A of A on a few occasions, they were not helpful.

Hang in there, buddy! It will all be worth the wait!

I've ranted to AoA on a number of occasions for a multitude of dealer problems. AoA (Marjorie) was always less than helpful. In terms of dealing with ANY dealer issue she always said...sorry can't help. As a matter of fact she was never any help with anything I ever inquired about, parts issues, model information, pricing, availability. AoA = 0

Simular situation here, some dealers are overselling their allocations. Thes dealers figure that you'll wait until they have an allocation but they won't tell you. It's kinda of a little game... will they get the car before you get so pissed off that you won't buy the car. Most people after waiting 8 months figure, "what's a few more months?" When you really get fed up they'll see if they can find one at another dealer. Find out who the largest dealer is within your region, the large regional dealer generally is given extra allocations based on sales and can cut that wait to 5 or 6 months.

This might actually work in your favor. Prices for the A5 have definately come down since you placed your original order. If it were me I would do a little research and see how much of a lower price I can get now. Like you mentioned, there are alot more A5's on the lots than a year ago....and you certainly have a valid reason for canceling your current order. especially if it works in your favor. Either way Good Luck. I can understand why you would be pissed, that is not a acceptable wait time for a vehicle.
