Need Help, Wont Start
My 99 A6 quattro won't start, the engine is turning over but it won't start the batter voltage is reading near 16 all lights are working fine, my dad a vw man told me to check the fuse box for the fuel pump fuse and also listen for the fuel pump, the fuse is fine and the fuel pump is humming. Never had a problem with starting in the cold either and I live in CT. Although my wife has said a few times the car has acted like it doesn't wanna start within the past year. I just had my timing belt changed and haven't had any ignition problems since then as well. What could it be any ideas,I'm thinking the wires, they are originals

Change nothing until you diagnose. My money is on either a bad coolant temp sensor or a bad fuel pump.
Is there more to this story? Was the car started and drive a few feet before it refused to restart later? Where in CT?

Yeah sure did saturday I was putting chrome strips on the lower grille,but my car was in a spot in my driveway that collects water, backed her up a few feet to a dry spot ,didn't go anywhere saturday,tried to start sunday am,all I got was the turnover, I did have a purge vent valve put on a few years ago,and also I checked my gastank too it was secure

I bet a new coolant temp sensor (with o-ring and clip) will make her start easier when warm.
However, if you start these car and shut them off after only a few seconds, they can be difficult to start the next time around.
