ABS and Brake Lights are both on

When my wife started the car today, both the ABS lights and Brake Lights are on. They went off for a little while and I grabbed the VAG and did a scan with no faults on the brake system. The lights are now back on and it seems that while they are on, my VAG won't connect to any controler. Would a bad ABS modules cause the other contollers to not respond? I do have an aftermarket radio, but have never had these trouble before. If I have lost the ABS module, what am I looking at a replacement cost? What about refurbs or used?

I have ABS module AND ABS pump

HI

I replaced both my module and ABS pump at the same time. The two parts locally (Hawaii) were about $1600.00. Many people have had their stuff rebuilt but I've heard a lot of horror stories too. I elected to go with new as I have committed to this car for the long run- over 10k in factory parts and indy labor in 36 months. I will be the old guy standing by the new looking and running Audi 20 years from now; amazing how many really old Audis you can see in ,say, Lake Tahoe. Tons.
