Dumb Question Time! Jack Points
I'm about to swap out my winter wheels/tires for my summer set. I finally got sick of the nasty jack that came with my car and bought a proper floor jack. Here's my dumb question, though: I've never been happy with the lift points described in my manual--they aren't clearly marked and have crumpled some over the years. But I see that each lift point point has a rubber-ringed metal disc just beyond it that looks like it was tailor-made for a floor jack. Is that what those are for? Thanks for any help.
BTW, my '05 3.2 Quattro Coupe is coming up on its 4th birthday this month and has been rock-solid reliable; I've only had to deal with a relay switch failure and some loose interior trim pieces. No complaints here!

The rubber doughnuts will work but the floor can deflect there. Not really strong enough. I use a short 2 X 4 (about 1 foot long) placed right behind the pinch weld in the rocker panel area for a jack pad. If placed right under the door mirror it will pick up front and rear at the same time. Good to hear a positive reliability story. My 2001 has been good too. 92000 miles now. Only a couple of coil packs, a temp sensor, Lots of brake pads from track days and some misc things that I broke.
