A6/S6/RS6 Speedometer Question

A6/S6/RS6 Speedometer Question
I noticed that stock A6s, S6s, and RS6s have different diameter tires (outside diameter, not wheel size). Is there a way to make an A6 speedometer report the correct speed with S6 tires? (software tweak?, use S6 instrument cluster?, different speed sensor???) Just curious.

Just match the tire (not wheel) diameter. The tire size has to be as close as the stock size on your vehicle. Read the bottom of the table once you input the sizes for comparison.

I use my S6 tires and wheels for tracking the '93 S4, it's not off by much, maybe 3%. Given that the cars are built with a 3% to 5% under reporting, the S4 is actually closer with the 17s, maybe 1 mile over at 60. I'd try it before I fixed anything.

Our S6 has 255/40-18 tires (RS6 size) on it right now, the speedo reads about 6% SLOW.
There's a VAG-COM coding for the ABS system for 18in wheels, I'd been meaning to try that to see if it changed the vehicle-speed pulse-rate reported out of the ABS system. It's academic at this point 'cause next week the car goes to 255/35-18s Pilot Sport AS Pluses. We'll see how they work.
As for other A6s, I can't say, but you might check the ABS system coding options since I think that's where the vehicle-speed pulse-count comes from.
