need mods advice for the 2.7 i just got
i would like to learn from the seasoned owners that have knowledge on the most eficient H.P. gains " WANT MOST BANG FOR BUCK"! i found a mechanic in my area and says he hooks his computer up to the car and runs a program that gives a H.P. gain of 60-80 horses. quoted at $800 is that the way to go?

1st...he may be taking you for a ride..That price is high. Most tuners (GIAC,APR,REVO,ect) are about $500-600. There are a ton of sites on the forum for you. Chipping/flashing is only part of it, there is intake( fresh air), exhaust , DV, ect. There is a ton out there.Try this out...http://sonolithics.com/files/a6_links.html.

Best Bang for the buck is a chip.
+60hp/+80ft lbs, and you shouldn't be paying more than $600 US.
Next, piggie pipes. Your downpipes have a catalytic converter right after the turbos. This generates excess heat, and lots of restriction. Those two combined kill turbos (excess heat and making the turbo work harder than it should). Since chipping the car is already making the turbos work hard and generate more heat, you will definitely want to do this to prolong the life of your stock turbos. Piggie pipes remove those catalytic converters, and move the sensors to monitor the rear cats instead. Realistically you can get +20hp from this. You can try and do this yourself, or order a set from VAST performance then send them yours. Their website is down right now so I can't tell you how much.
