Default Where to buy timing belt and transmission fluid kit?

My 01 Avant is approaching 76k. The thermostat might be stuck and coolant and oil temp take a LONG time to get to normal operating range. So I think it might be a good time to do the whole timing belt and transmission service. Any recommendations in terms of vendors?

Also do I need to the differential fluid also?

Thanks a lot!

Hello,
I had no trouble getting any of these from ecstuning web site.
Prices are ok, you could find cheaper but they have all including any tools you might need.
Regards
Ted

I looked around online a little and found a place called blauparts.com. Are they reputable? They look pretty decent.

I have gotten stuff from both blau and ecs, I also go to SJM autotechnic because they are in the same state and I get it overnight. I STRONGLY suggest you buy the tools if you are going to keep the car and do the timing belt again. The job is a bit intimidating for the first time but gets really easy from that point on. I have done two 5 valve v6 and a 4.2 5valve. They use the same cam locking tool and the same crank locking tool. DO NOT TRY TO DO IT WITHOUT THE TOOL! I don't care what anybody says. Both the 4.2 and the 2.8 someone had done before and they did it wrong (guessing without the tool) Both vehicles ran ALOT better after I Finished. The 4.2 got 25 miles to the gallon ! But there you have it. Suggestions from someone who has been there.

I agree with you too. I did the timing belt, pulleys, tensioner, thermo, water pump, seals, combo on my A6 Q and having the right tools makes a difference. the locking bar for sure, the crankshaft lock pin, the fan removal tool, a couple of heavy duty pins made my work so much easier and safer to perform. There is a dvd that shows how to do the timing belt at jhmotorsports, also some other dvd sources at ebay and of course audiforums have excellent articles on how to with suggestions.

I ordered some brake pads from www.autopartsway.com and got parts very quickly. I know they have lot of OEM and after market Audi parts. I know that their prices were cheapest they even market lowest price guarantee.

+1 for Blau with the tool rental option. Totally worth the rental. You really only need the cam lock bar and the fan removal tool (although you could get by without this).

Lesson learned, don't use their carrier lock tool, take off the radiator as others have written to do so. I spent more time trying to figure out how I was going to get to a given bolt, from the top or bottom. Would've been much easier to just come straight in at it. And saved my back.

I just did a fairly major service on my 2002 3.0L Avant at 124k miles. I ordered my timing belt kit, transmission gasket / filter and fluid, fuel filter, spark plugs and brake rotors / pads / fluid for all 4 corners from ECS Tuning. Installing everything went really smooth and the car runs 10x better since doing the service last weekend.
