Default GIAC Tip Chip for '99

My 2.8 Quattro Tip '99 A6 needs some fun done to it.

I was looking into the GIAC tip Chip. AWE lists that my year is compatible, but on GIAC's website, '99 isn't listed. Will I be SOL if I buy it? Anyone with '99 2.8 Q's run this chip?

on a second note, there's a vag 32 code that doesn't work for 99's... anyone get it working with a different combo?

Thanks all.

Just stay stock. The 2.8 is what it is.

Not really. The 2.8 is not really a "tunable" engine, unless you go all out with a supercharger

I'm waiting for a good used Supercharger. But in the meantime I want to get everything else going. As most of you know, stock tip sucks and I want it to perform better even if it's not SC'ed. Since I can't do the vag 32 coding, I'm trying to find an alternative.

And it's not the engine I'm trying to tune, it's the tranny.

You need to sell this car and buy a 2.7 with a six speed.

You're going to spend more money for a less capable, less reliable car.

Is this a response to me a general comment? Please try to post in the correct place within the thread.

Generally, that is true for stock to stock comparison; the 2.8 has less moving parts and no boost, so sure, it's probably more reliable. But you are saying that a supercharged 2.8 is more reliable than a stock 2.7, that's just silly. An aftermarket charger system is a pretty drastic mod. There is a negative impact on reliability.

2nd. There's a reason Audi has a 2.7 turbo engine.

No, Sorry I thought you meant my car NOW (stock) is less reliable than a stock 2.7T....But I would question the reliability of a K04'd 2.7 over a G2'd 2.8.

Fortunately, I had a great opportunity to buy a 2.8 for a very low price and since I bought it, I now want to do what I can with what I have. Suggesting selling what I have is a good offer, but I don't want to do that right now since I dumped money into the 2.8 and am looking for ways to improve it more....starting with the slow and annoying tip tranny.

Hope that clears things up a bit.
