Default Can my problem really be this easy??!!

I've been looking at replacing all coil packs and all plugs due to bad moderate to hard acceleration misfire, hesitation, bucking, ect. This has happened for the third time now and the first two times I had the car in to two shops in asheville, nc which replaced coil packs both times. Well I was looking to do the same, again... but do all and everything..

I decided to pull all the plugs and see how they looked and see how a replacement would be for me before I ordered everything. Everything looked pretty good and the plugs were all pretty clean, but all the plugs I checked were sitting at 0.038-0.039. Well I reset all to 0.030-0.031 and redrove the car.

I have a sh*t grin on my face right now because the car drove beautifully for the first time in quite some time and it was absolutely sooo simple? I can finally appreciate all the work I have done to the car again! I understand my drive time was very short and wasnt able to really 'play' but out to the store and back was very nice! I also understand that tommorrow could portray a different senario...

But wow, I have dealt with this problem for a long time now, and just me with my 'very' little mechanical experience has achieved this! HAHA!

I will still probably replace everything though since its pretty cheap...

Yes that’s it. The ignition coils only have enough energy to make electricity arc a small gap. High boost requires more energy to jump the gap since more effective compression (lots of pressure) in the cylinder blows the spark. So less gap is needed if you are chipped.

From my experience, copper plugs work well from 0.028 to 0.032. I started to record misfires on high boost when their gaps wore out to about 0.035. The Iridiums I have now work well at 0.034 (because there is less resistance on the plug to loose the coil’s energy). They work well to 0.038 with my coils.

If you are using copper, change them at least every 5K, or at least gap them by then and change no more than 15K.

Don't forget to check for boost leaks. Especially ones that can affect pressure regulation. I will post pics on how to check for boost leaks sometime.

Default a week later and still no misfires..

Its been approx. a week and still have had no problems, still running excellently..

The plugs were the OEM NGK PFR6Qs. I think I may go ahead and replace them soon just because I'm unsure as to when they were replaced last.
