how many km can u do on a tank 4.2 and 2.8 guys please post

1,000,000,. Seriously, I don't do km. As for miles, my average weekly commute figures out to somewhere around 400 miles or a bit over, traffic isn't too bad, but my right foot tends to do naughty things. I've gotten as low as 300, but 400 is more like it.

I only ever bother tracking mileage on road trips, so...
My unit converter tells me the S6 gets about 9.5km/L (22.5 MPG) on the highway. I intentionally don't calculate in town. The trip display says the average is 18.5 MPG, but that's optimistic I'm sure.
The wifes A6 gets at the very best, 11.5km/L (27 MPG) on the highway. In town, again going by the trip display it shows an average of 19.5 MPG, which I tend to believe.

01 2.8 quattro, so its the 18 gallon tank. Also have Remus cat back, and a modified air box (Z-flow style)
I have a lead ish foot, and I usually average about 21 mpg, or 340 miles.
Lowest Ive seen is about 16 mpg, really stop and go, in winter, and about 260 miles.
A few "easy" trips have been around 30 mpg, or a little over 500 miles.

very good specs.. good to know.. i am liking the 4.2 now lol
any sites u can think of that has rightups on 4.2 or 2.8? i am trying to learn more about them.
i just want one that is reliable so cant deisde if the 4.2 or the 2.8 is more for me..
so far the gas usage on the 4.2 is fine with me

Any questions on the 2.8, let me know. Im pretty well into it, as Ive about gone down every avenue there is to mod it, enjoy it, and repair it. Kinda gave up on the first part, LOL.
Honestly, if your ok with the fuel economy of the 4.2, then I would say go that route. Enjoy the extra power and V8 goodness. And also, it seems that there are less issues with the 8, not as many valve cover gasket/cam seal issues for what ever reason.
