to run the bottom plastic skidplate or not?
anyway, the big plastic skidplate under the engine is now all mangled and wont stay up in place because of the scrape-age.
now in my old mark 4 GTi there were two on the sides of the engine and one over the oilpan-- this car was also lowered, and one by one these fell down and i took them off and ran the car without them. i never noticed a problem with it being that way.
im wondering if any of you roll without your plastic skidplate and if so has there been any bad side-effects in doing this? my thought is to just rip this thing off completely and roll without.
any thoughts??

My front shield has been off for 1.5 years. It broke off at high speeds and ripped all the mounts out of the chassis and broke the attachments to the inner wheel skirts.
My 2 rear shields came off in the winter. When your driving on roads with about 4-6" of snow. The rear wheels will throw snow on the rear skid plates till they are over loaded and rip off.
The advantages to no skid plates is better engine oil cooling, and a cooler running trans.
