Default I have a small rust spot on my right front door.

How likely is Audi to get it fixed? I know all Audi's have the 12 years anti-corrosion warranty, but I heard that the company will do almost anything to not get it fixed. They are horrible.

Is it worth the hassle of having them fix it or forget it with Audi and find some good local body shop to get it done?

it is a perforation warranty, unless you have perforation from the inside out it's not covered by the warranty.

Wait a second - are you saying rust-through from the outsinde -in is not covered? I know it has to be all the way through, but I didn't think WHERE it started was an issue. Am I wrong?

I don't work for Audi so take this accordingly ... at least in the case of the rust I have on the roof rails of my Avant, where it is bubbling and has been for about 4 yrs. or so (not progressing as far as I can see now), it has to perforate from the inside, in part to keep someone from "helping" it along and poking a hole there to try to get the warranty coverage.

If it looks like the bubbling was pierced from the outside it won't be covered. After 8 1/2 yrs. on the car, I think it's maybe 50-50 that it'll rust through before the warranty on that expires.

On other rust I can't give you definitive answers other than to say that if it's rusting and it's not perforated, it's not covered. And if AoA decides that the owner "helped" the perforation along I'm sure they deny coverage.

In my case the dealer was very amenable to documenting it in a R.O. so there is a clear record that the problem was brought to their attention.... now we just have to wait to see if there is perforation.

Warranty covers the vehicle's sheet metal, and protects you from rust and corrosion that are severe enough to cause a hole - surface rust is not covered.

That's what I recall. It has to go all the way through-but whether from outsinde-in or inside-out is not specified, as far as I know.

Inside out...as they fall back on the language of "surface rust" not being covered. If it perforates, but started ont he outside as surface rust, not covered FTL!
