Due to advances in flex joint technology and the demand for more affordable parts for the 2.7T engine, we allocated time in our prototyping schedule to revisit one of our very first A.W.E. Tuning branded parts.

When we first designed these downpipes in 2000, there were no high quality lined flex joints on the aftermarket, causing us to incorporate a very expensive Aeroquip ball and socket unit. Lined high temp flex joints have been available for a few years now, so we finally took the time to redesign our downpipes in order to eliminate these costly parts and to streamline our jigs for faster production. Our 2.7T downpipes were one of the more time consuming products in our catalog to build due to some "less advanced" build methods we established early on in our manufacturing history. These build methods did not compromise quality, but they did add considerable hand shaping time to the process.

Our revised build process retains all the flow geometry of the original design, while vastly simplifying the labor steps. So all the good things are kept and the money saved in build time and by eliminating the $80 each ball/socket joints has been passed along to you.

Also, all sets now come with test pipes at no extra charge.

Old pricing was $1595 for downpipes without test pipes, and $1695 for downpipes with test pipes.

New pricing is $1295.95 complete with test pipes!

A.W.E. Tuning 2.7T Downpipes

 

Dumb question, I admit. Have a 2003 2.7T with GIAC chip. Eventually will have to replace OEM turbos and thinking about K04s. What are the advantages of these pipes now and after a K04 upgrade?
