On becoming an Audi suspension victim or expert
In the case of the RS6, I did purchase new DRC suspension and spent some time in my friend's shop trying to understand/figure out how to recharge the oil system. We even had some feeder valves custom fabricated and were finally successful in recharging. As we set the car on the ground, the front worked excellent, but the rear was waaay soft. Apparently, both center valves were defective, and I just desisted in spending more money, even though AoA has offered to reimburse expenses. I purchased this car in March and hadn't driven it since!
I had previous experience with PSS9s on an E46 M3. Very positive feedback. So, i decided to order right away. I am very pleased with this setup for the cost. However, the front is a bit low in my opinion, although it will not bottom out. I have to mention it's on the HIGHEST setting in front. The rear was set 1/2" higher, and dialed to a "6" in front and "7" in rear. Wheel center to fender dimensions are 12 7/8" front, 13 3/8" rear. I've driven my car for two weeks now and loving it. Having traded from a GT3, I call this car a torpedo-limo. I'm learning to drive a graceful heavyweight.
On the Allroad, the rear is way too soft and even without passengers and cargo, it will bottom out if not careful and very gentle over speed bumps and humps. I'm not yet satisfied, but Arnott has committed to fix the problem. I will bet that although I will lose the hydraulic adjustment which makes the Allroad, the on-road performance will improve dramatically. I'm sick of bladders blowing, harsh initial compression, and zero-rebound valving of the original suspension. Get a Land Rover or a Jeep for real offroading.
Well, hope my first post helps some of you make more informed decisions on your suspensions. These are sweet rides.
