Took it to an Audi dealer when I was only getting errors on bank2, and they said to replace the cat and EGT, and the bad cat caused the EGT to go bad. I have a used cat and EGT coming from a 64k mile 01.5 S4, and I'm considering buying bank1's cat and EGT, from the same seller.

Question: Did me going too long(mover a month) on my bad cat and EGT cause bank1's cat and EGT to go bad? I haven't gotten all of the parts yet, so I can't say if replacing the cat and EGT removed the errors or not, but I plan to do them soon.
*Both EGTs were replaced less than a year ago, according to the records that came with the car when I bought it, back in June.

Hopefully I provided enough information, without too much babbling. Feel free to ask questions.

Thanks in advance,
Scott

If you don't have some highflow DP's I would consider getting an aftermarket pair instead of just swapping the cats. I don't even see how you're going to swap just the cat's or maybe the avant exhaust system is different?

As far as I know, the cats are totally separate pieces, that have tubes on each end, one that connects to the DP, and one that connects to the back end of the exhaust.

I considered some high flow DPs, but I didn't really want to spend over $1k, unless that was it for sure. So, that is when I went to the Audi dealer to have them check it out, and they said it was the Cat, and EGT.

Just take your old cats and knock the elements out of them and reinstall them. Not exactly ideal for flow, but certainly better than having them in there.

As for the EGT going bad because of the cat, I highly doubt it. EGTs are design to measure high temperatures, so if you got so hot you ruined an EGT, I'm suprised you didn't ruin a whole lot of other things. Your cat would have to be plugged so severly, that the car wouldn't run right.

By the way, if your pulling the motor and up there on miles, you might as well change the clutch disc and PP.

I never said anything about pulling the motor, only swapping cats. At this point, I'm not investing a ton, buying 2 used cats and EGTs from a 64k mile 01.5 S4, so I think I'm going to replace them, and see how it goes.

BTW, my car had an RS4 clutch installed before I bought the car, so I'm good on that one.

Just replace the EGTs and rescan for codes. I had bad EGTs (limp mode no CEL) and a bunch of other faults. When I replaced the EGTs other items cleared as well. I've seen those codes on my car, but now all clear. Replacing the EGTs my be enough to solve your problems...

The Avant system is not different. Swapping cats means swapping the entire downpipe unless cutting and welding in aftermarket cats is involved.
