Default airbag light on.

Airbag light on 2001.5 s4 avant. Vag claims its a bad airbag module. Is there a way to determing which module it is? seat or main module? what is the procedure for fixing this; just replace the bad module and clear the code, or do i have to replace the airbag and module? Because there are so many different modules out there, how do I figure out what part number i need?

thanks!

Default Sometimes it's the connection under the seat

that needs to be firmly connected and zip-tied together.

Did you post the code? I have a constant airbag light - code is "seatbelt tensioner - tension to high". It's just a crappy connection somewhere and not worth removing the seat to play with the wires.

Make sure that this is not something harmless before you tackle removing the seats.

The only issue about airbag light is that although it doesn't make sense, there is a chance that with the light activated the airbags will fail to deploy.

I was assured that with the code mine was throwing this was not an issue. Unless the engineer were complete idiots I'm pretty sure they would program some sort of priority into the system - i.e. they would make sure that certain error codes won't disable the entire system unnecessarily.

Default Airbags won't go off if there is a code

I second that:
If there is ANY sort of airbag code the airbags will not DEPLOY in a crash... I learned this the hard way in my A4.

Get it fixed ASAP- you never know when someone is going to run a red light and hit you head on!
