Leather conditioner

What leather seat conditioner are people liking these days? My seats are in great condition - just thinking about PM...

I make my own leather conditioner out of homegrown coconuts and unicorn livers. If you're not into the whole DIY thing you can just grab whatever strikes your fancy on the shelf at Autozone.

Water-based: Leather Master

Oil-based: Leatherique

I've got half a dozen or more sitting in the basement. The two listed above require more work but offer the biggest result. Griot's product is good if you're looking to minimize the task and it has a BIG leather smell. So does the Zaino product.

I never laid a hand on your unicorn! You should check out your local black market for fictional animal organs, it might still turn up.

The most important thing you can do to prolong the life of your leather is to keep it clean. The parts of leather that fail first are the ones you get your body oils on. Usually the steering wheel and shifter are first to get trashed, then the drivers seat. What you use to clean can be a sort of a religious topic. Woolite and Water is popular and recommended by a few car company manuals.

For protection, I really like 1Z Leather Care. It is carnauba based but retains a very matte look. The carnauba does a great job of protecting against abrasion and do a good job at preventing your body oils from being absorbed by the leather. It is pricey though.
