Default Brake Upgrade help?

Hey guys, looking for some advice.

Want to upgrade the rotors and pad on my '01.5, 6spd. Got the pad wear sensor, looked at em and the back side pads are get'n low..so... Don't want to go bigger, cause i really don't need it (no autocross, no track days... just a daily driver). All i want is a direct replacement vented/drilled rotors and some good, low dust pads.

Obviously i'd like the best bang for the buck.

anyway, let me know if you have any suggestions, web sites, blah, blah, blah.

Thanks guys

Default Edit - on second thought

skip the drilled rotors unless you plan to take it to the track or just have to have the look. Slotted is ok and will help direct the brake dust away from the rotors.

best thing to do is get some OEM replacement rotors - Zimmerman etc. non slotted or drilled. These are readily available at almost any online autoparts store.

For pads go with a brand like hawk with a better material. There are several good pads that are specifically designed to produce less dust. Check ECS tuning - they have a good selection of pads. Also, flush and replace your brake fluid while you're at it.

Yeah, don't get drilled unless it's a show car and you like having a higher chance of getting stress fractures in your rotors. Slotted can cause some vibration I hear, so don't be surprised about that if you do get slotted.

Default Thanks... but...

Thanks guys. Checked the couple web sites... looks good.

Does Zimmerman do a rear brake rotor?

I know that i don't "NEED" the drilled or sloted.. But i would like em. Love the look of it, and they would look great behind the set of 18' August Werk wheels I have.

Yes, Zimmerman makes the rears.

The drilled look is nice, I agree, but keep in mind there is a trade-off in braking perfomance (under normal street conditions) with the drilled rotors. Also, as Bing pointed out, they are more prone to fractures.

I have slotted/drilled rotors, but that's because I autocross my car, if you don't do anything like that then I agree with the consensus about the Zimmerman Rotors.

I would check out Import Replacement Parts (importrp.com) for pads, I got PBR/Axxis Ultimate Ceramic Pads for about 1/2 of what anywhere else was charging (ebay included). They squeel a bit initially, but they're awesome pads with good initial bite unlike traditional ceramic pads (I'm pretty sure they're a ceramic/metallic hybrid).
