RS6 hunter
Have owned a 93s4 now for 7 yrs and is my daily commuter but time to upgrade. Want to stick with the audi brand and got my eyes on the RS6.
I have read many posts and see where the DRC and tranny are the weak points.
Question: Seems that Audi of America is taking care of the DRC issues, that leaves the transmission as the other big expense if it fails. Is there an average life of the transmission or do some fail early and some last till 200k miles?
Is there a post in the archives for new potential buyers?
I turn my own wrench for most things including timing belt, but transmission replacement or other major is beyond my motivation level. I plan to keep my 93 as my primary commuter since its value has bottomed anyway.
TIA
Mike
Transmissions can pop as early as 20k not 200k
Have you ever completed the timing belt on a RS6? Its nothing like the 93S4. You are playing with fire on that one. Good luck. It can be done...I did it but I hope you find the proper instructions. very hard to find.
