'01 TT what's coming out of my vents?

'01 TT what's coming out of my vents?
Have my '01 TT for about a year and not too mechanically gifted. There seems to be dried out and broken up installation or filtering coming out of the air vents when I turn the fan on? Anyone have an idea what's going on here?

Quite possibly could be insulation? I've never heard of that happening, but doesn't meant that it cant. Best option I'd say would be to remove dash if you have time, inspect the condition of it, and replace if necessary. Best of luck! Seems like an itchy situation lol

Ya it is if you know where you're looking... I think this is the cabin filter? I forgot all about looking at that. I picked up one of those when I changed my air filter. Why not? Youre there for a filter anyway 
If youre looking at the engine, go to the left side. Its literally like right under the wipers.
