CV Joint/front axle problem

I have a shake in my front that only occurs when you are pushing down on the gas. The tires or wheels are not the problem , it occurred with the last set also. I was told that its a CV joint. Has anyone else had this problem ? My next problem is that I've checked all the parts houses (online also ) do not have a drivers side axle assembly, everyone has the passenger side available but not one has a drivers side. Are they trying to tell me something ? Is the driver side a problem with this car This is a base model FWD 1.8T model.

Try Raxles for reman axles. do not use garden variety parts store "rebuilt" axle assys. But that might not be the problem.

You might look toward the motor mounts.

That was my first thought but mechanic said that there would be a clunk or noise if it was a mount. Could it be a mount? this seemed to start a little after the timing belt was changed

Does it seem like a shake comes every revolution of the wheel? My suspicion would be to lean more toward a CV joint than a motor mount. Which side does it feel like it's coming from? Can you feel it in the wheel? If you get me your VIN number I can get you some quotes on CV joints.

Did you check the dog-bone mount under the car? The rubber gets weak, or the bolts work loose (or break as in my case) and the engine rocks back and forward.

You can get stiffer mounts for less than $25. The dog bone is just above the rear of the engine belly pan.
