Differential removal?

What is the fastest method for removing the rear differential? The bently manual doesn't have much info.

I don't see a way to get this out easily by looking at it. It looks to me like I will have to take off the exhaust and drop the entire rear subframe. This would mean removing the exhaust shield etc as well. Please tell me this comes out easier? Also, what size are those twelve points? I don't have one that big.
