Default GIAC vs. APR ECU Upgrades

Can't decide between the two. According to each website it seems that APR produces more power and torque based on dyno charts that are available on both sites( APR's looks a bit fabricated if you ask me) can anyone confirm this? Furthermore, I have heard that APR ecu upgrades have A few bugs. I look forward to hearing other opinions and thoughts.

Regards,

most chips are essentially the same, your best bet is to probably go with whoever has a local installer.

Not on your list but go with Unitronics.

I'm getting better gas mileage, gained 2mpg city. Performance wise, car runs much smoother, pulls hard to redline. Any chip from a major chip tuner will be decent on a stock turbo, eventually you may want to go big turbo though as most do sometime after chipping. Unitronics has the most and the best bt files. Only thing you will not get with uni is ability to switch octane programs which I could care less for.

Uni stage I=260hp (91 oct) stock
stage I+=273hp (93 oct) stock
stage 2=285hp (need a down pipe)

I've heard apr, revo and Giac may throw some codes, I haven't seen any from my uni tune. There are a couple flashed ecu's fs on vortex right now, you may want to check them out. There is a revo, uni and a Giac right now but make sure the ecu matches if you end up buying one of those.

Default Chips

I too have run APR for some time without issue (6 years). I actually looked into Unitronic and passed because thay had to hardwire my ecu. That has probably changed. The other comments on Unitronic are true.

I have had good customer support from APR and can recomend them.

The best recommendation is to buy local if you can.

Good luck!
