Hooking an Android phone to my TT stereo?
I have a 2002 Audi TT Quatro coup (first owner) and an HTC/Sprint EVO phone with the HTC car dock.
I would like to play podcasts from the phone on the car's sound system. What are my options?
Currently I am using this FM transmitter but the quality is not great and I often hear static.

My original Audi radio has 'Audi Concert' printed on its faceplate. IIRC, this was an upgraded package.
Is there some bluetooth adapter that I can add to the radio? Can I connect a direct and through the antenna adapter? Can I used the CD exchanger input (I don't use that original CD exchanger) for the phone? Any other trick?
I would not mind to get a new radio except that I prefer to keep the original look.
Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Zapta

The adapters are $60 + and take about 1/2 hour to install.

There are no adapters that I know of that work with the phone USB port on a non-iphone.
1. Which of the model you mentioned is the 'best' or best bet (or are there significant differences between them).
2. How do you set the audio system to play music from these adapters?
3. I presume that the RCA inputs require the same signal level as the phone headset output, and a simple wire adapter will work. Is it so?
4. Are there bluetooth adapters that I can plug into the RCA connectors to save the extra wire from the phone?
Thanks again,
Zapta

2. The adapter emulates a CD changer. Something like CD 1 TRK 99 will display on the head unit. Unfortunately with the aux units you have to control the volume from both the head unit and phone since it is an analog interface. You select tracks from the phone.
3.Yes
4. Not that I know of.
The Ipod integration is far superior as you can control the ipod via the concert head unit because it is true digital interface. I imagine one day Android Phones might have a standard interface that allows that kind of functionality.
I use an Android phone, but still use my Ipod in the TT with my GROM adapter.

Update: I picked Motorola T505 from a local store. It is a speakerphone that also provides BT to FM bridge and it seems to work well, way better than the Griffin FM transmitter. I think I will give it a try for few days before ordering the GROM adapter.

A few more questions for those that have used it.
If you have it on cd and it shows CD1 TRK 99, does the 99 change? And can you play the changer still also?
I have the 2 CD selections, head cd player and the 6-disc changer. Which do you use?

On the GROM CD 1 allows you to change tracks on the Ipod using the touch controls. CD2-6 are ipod playlists and you can use FWD/RWD to jump thru tracks but the ipod controls are locked out.
Id you have a built in changer and an external one , the external one won't work as that is where the adapter is connected. Use the CD mode button to select internal/ external as before.

I was able to listen to podcasts over BT but the volume was low such that I had to increase the radio's volume to 20 to get the same volume I get with AM on 10 and this increased the background noise.
Will contact GROM and see if they have a fix. If not, I plan to return it and keep looking.
One of the options I consider is to replace the radio with a new one that support Bluetooth (for music, not just a headset profile). Anybody has any experience with this approach? What radio model are you using?

With the ipod version the volume control on the the ipod is disabled and only the head unit volume needs to be adjusted.
With regard to aftermarket head units, there some weird wiring possibilities on the TT. Just make sure you buy the correct harness for the model and year and whether it Bose or not. Bentley shows 4-6 different wiring schemes for the TT.
