AM Radio Static

How do I get rid of the constant static and "rpm whine" emitting from my radio? It only happens only in the AM mode. Radio in stock concert sound, not Bose, and no six-CD changer. Car is 2002 Quattro coupe. Any help appreciated.

Check that the radio is grounded properly, especially if it is aftermarket.

Get resistor spark plugs if you dont have them already.

Get a ground loop isolator.

Thanks for the feedback. Radio is stock, not aftermarket, and nothing has been added to the rear window. I just had the spark plugs replaced. I'll ask my mechanic about the radio ground and a ground loop isolator. Find it a bit funny that I'm dealing with a problem that I would associate with cars from the 40's or 50's.

The other thing that could have happened is the antenna gain is set wrong (LO instead of DX) or the antenna amp has lost power.

Thanks. Haven't checked the topic for awhile so missed your comment until now. When I take the car in for annual state inspection I'll have him look at/for this suppressor. Hope he knows what I'm talking about!
