New to the Audi world
Read the MKI forums all the way back to 08 and have what might seem as some dumb questions-please go easy on me..
First off
A little background about me:
Not new to cars, been restoring and rest molding cars since I was 13. Currently in my stable are several varieties of domestic cars and one foreign car ( highly modified 300ZX W twin turbos ).
TT story:
I needed this TT like I needed a hole in the head but I couldn't pass it up for the price - and I'm glad I didn't!!! It's an 01 225 quattro coupe w/109k on it. Guy purchased it from original owner and it quit running after 236 miles. Cars spotless inside and out. Was his sole transportation and he had no money to fix it ( was told might be tranny and would cost 5-6k to fix ). He needed a vehicle to get back n forth to work in and called me up n asked if I'd be interested in it for $3,500...
I took the gamble due to the condition, took it to the garage, threw it on the lift and proceeded to dismantle to see what I was in for... Damn that things tight!!!!!!! For once in my life I was expecting the worse and was pleasantly surprised that the clutch had disintegrated and it wasn't the input shaft. Replaced the flywheel, clutch,PP, throw out bearing, slave cylinder. Since I had the motor out and read all the info on here (thanks ) I decided to purchase the timing belt kit and install that too..
Car runs and handles like a dream, could use some bottom end but ohhh well... Fun to drive!! I'm hooked...

Now for the questions:I have no owners manual but this sites answered most of my questions.
1- what the hecks that little visor for above the rearview? seems kinda useless for a sun visor, all 2" gap...
2- Everyone says RPO codes are in spare wheel well... Cant find them anywhere, any other places to look?
3- Headlights need adjusted (aiming way too low ). I'm thinking one of two possible fixes:
3a - is there a fuse for the self leveling headlights? if so what's it's location #?
3b-Whats the best vagcom if made by more than one company and best place to purchase one?
4- Front Parking lights ( this one has me stumped ) I know where they are, however, when I pulled the holders to check the bulbs I found out that one was totally destroyed and electrical taped to keep it in. Where can I find these? Audi said on the phone that the only one they can see on the cpu has a electrical plug on it and I know that's not the one I need... Anyone got the PN# for it?
5- Best place to purchase a black center bumper insert without license plate holes?
6- What the heck were they thinking with that cup holder location?
That's about all the questions for now, sure there will be more in the near future... Again this sites helped me out with it's wealth of knowledge, THANKS!!!!
Not new to cars, been restoring and resto modding cars since I was 13. Currently in my stable are several varieties of domestic cars and one foreign car ( highly modified, what started out in life as an 84 any turbo then completely shelled and transplanted into an 87 NA 300ZX W twin turbos, infinity block with all custom internals. built for 30lbs of boost).
First of, congratulations on the car. Looks great. Modded headlights and 3.2 rear valence that I can see. I can't answer the technical questions, but I have been reading forum for a while so I can answer some basic ones.
1. Not sure what you are referring to, picture would help. If I know what you are talking about, it used to be where motion sensor is. I found that out from the other forum recently.
2. Is RPO the radio code? Some say on the head unit sticker. MIne wasn't on either. You need to give VIN to the dealer to look it up. For what they charge, you'd better of buying new head unit. You might find one no more than $50. Do a little bit of search. ECS has some for sale cheap, once in a while.
3. Not sure if other way, but with VAGCOM for sure (I don't have one). Believe Rosstech is the one you need. Other will chime in soon.
4 & 5. I find genuineaudiparts.com is a great source to most parts you need. Shoot them an email if you are not sure of the parts. Great service and price.
6. Yeah. Cup holder. Alternative, get one from Modshack. Love mine. Use it daily.
Strangely for me to offer welcome since I don't contribute much technical stuff. Have fun with your car

Cheers!
