Windshield trim - is this a problem?

Windshield trim - is this a problem?
On my newly-acquired '90 80, the trim around the windshield seems to be having some issues with not being attached very well. What I'm wondering is whether this is just a cosmetic issue, or could it create a water leak? Does anyone know?

I myself would add some sealant just in case. Prob will not look the best, but it is not a spot that sticks out when you look at the car and may avoid big problems in the future.
