I don't think the green slime stuff will help that! On another subject, just got done replacing the rear pads & rotors on the '01 Beetle with my son. Had two frozen carrier bolts. Taught my son all about heat and penetrating oil.

But seriously, that looks terrible. One of the air struts failed on my E500 and I was able to get one from the dealer for way less than the $900 discounted price. A couple years ago a company named Arnott started making remanufactured ones for around $4-500. Not sure if they make them for A8 yet, but with all these suspensions bound to fail, at these prices they have a pretty good niche carved out for a long time to come. There are some controversy on the reliability of Arnott's, but just to get the car in shape to sell it, it would definitely be worth it.

Cheers

Did you get this in your shop??? Looks like the car was dropped into a ditch, or was it the airbag failure?

Default Ditch

regular city driving as per the customer.
Arnott makes them for allroad, some issues in the past but they have improved noticeably, nothing for the A8 yet and the ones for Benz are actually just new bladder not the shock.
as per Benz and Porsche these shocks/air spring combination should be replace at 80k miles and always as an assembly unit as well as both sides not just one at a time.
