Default Removing Starter from 1995 90 V6 sedan....

who' done it & how bad is it to do? I've been told that removing the right side motor mount is preferable to taking out alternator. Any tips?

I agree, support the engine and remove the mount. The alternator is unwieldy to say the least, usually requires a helper to get it back in place.

Once you remove the motor mount, all is revealed, and the starter is there for the plucking.

About an hour job, leave the alternator alone, it's not in the way of the starter.

Definitely remove the passenger side motor mount, it's pretty easy to do and the starter won't come out without it out of the way.

I was able to get to the top starter bolt from the top/backside of the motor and the bottom one from below.

Guyl,

Please set down... and SLOWLY back away from... the bong.

You know, the same bong from which you obviously ripped epicly righteous pulls right before you replaced your starter. Because in order to perceive space and time so completely differently than I did during my 5-hour solitary cuss-fest of a starter removal, you either got a hold of some REALLY good ****, or got so roasted that you completely forgot about spray-painting your old starter to make it look new, thereby playing a bitchin' joke on yourself, Dude.

Just in case it's the good ****, please let me know the next time you're passing by Milwaukee. I'll gladly put 5 on it.

LOL!

5 Hours?!?!? Damn man!

Really, it did only take me about an hour to unbolt the wire, get the two bolts out, then pulled the motor mount to get clearance to remove and install it.

I was pretty surprised at how easy the whole process was.

Oh, I did remove the passenger side valve cover breather hose also.

Wish I had enough to pack a bong but I'm so broke lately I'm lucky I can bum a toke off of friends.

I happen to have a particularly good view of the starter / motor mount arrangement on my new Cab while I prep for an engine replacement.

Here's the view od the starter hole. Note the two places the bolts go in. The bottom one from the front, the top from the rear...

Here's where the top bolt threads in.
