Default guess the bad electrical component

After a substantial amount of testing and diagnostics, my car is still having issues with throwing a random check light for the VSS, which was recently replaced. All wiring was tested, grounds checked, all seem fine. The cluster reads speed correctly. The cluster was replaced not that long ago, but with a used cluster so that may not matter.

The thing that's making me thinks it could be a computer issue is that I can go for days, even weeks without getting the code. Also sometime I will be driving and the CEL will come on (same issue) and then go off several minutes later and everything will be normal.

So is it the computer or the cluster that's bad? Idk how common it is for the computer to go bad, but the car is getting old and I know the clusters tend to go a lot. Any Ideas?

Dude I had a B4 audi that had intermittent SES come on the whole time I owned it. I ran codes and it was the speed sensor. Replaced that, but it never did quit. Every time I hit the highway, and went up a grade the light would pop on. When I turned off the car and restarted the light would go out and stay out. I could go for weeks around town and never see the SEL--unless the speedo stopped working--which it did occasionally. It was that way for 70,000 miles. Never failed an emission test, got 35 mpg on the highway.
On the cluster, yea when I hit 180K the speedo would stop working and bang went the SES. I'd give the speedo a little tap and it started working and the SES went out.
Check your mpgs, if it is passing emissions it is nothing to worry about.

its not really effecting the way the car drives at all, but the thing that worries me is that when the light does come on the car will stall out when it goes from a driving idle to a idle when sitting still. The only things on the VSS circuit are the sensor, the cluster, and the ecm. I'm just trying to narrow it down to see what it could be. CELs drive me crazy lol

I'm gonna try popping a new cluster in. This issue only seems to occur when it gets warm inside the car, which is similar to how the last cluster started to act before it went out. I have an opportunity to pick one up cheap with almost exactly the same mileage.
