95 90QS Engine just about out!!!

Will post photos later, I have about 10 hrs so far a few more wires and Vacuum hoses and power steering lines then the drivers side mount and front snubber then Bell housing bolts then she's out. I think I spent more time taking the front end body apart.

I hope the A/c compressor will have enough clearance while pulling through the front!!

I am doing a similar job -- the AC compressor comes out pretty easily though you'll lose your refrigerant. I took mine off to pull the engine.

Here's a view of the bell housing from the rear...

You can see all of the bolts. All the bolts down low are from the front of the car, all on the top are from the rear.

Here's the front of my replacement engine too. It should be installed by the end of the weekend

It took me about 3 hours to pull the AFC from my '95 90q 2 weekends ago, including disassembling the front end... What's taking you so long?

I have owned my Audi since 2008, but I never had no experience with pulling a V6 from one. I pulled the oil pump earlier this Summer and only took about 3 hours. When I said 10 hrs that really means lunch breaks, labeling and writing in the log book. I'm just thankful that I own my hard earned Snap-on tools from working on VW A1 A2 cars from the past. I'm not the best when it comes to pulling Trans. And Engines as I became for specialized in CIS and CIS-E fuel injection diagnosis. All I know I will try to do all preventive maintenance on the used AFC replacement and clutch before it goes back in.

Thanks for the photo grillage, would you recommend changing the Upper oil pan gasket also on the replacement engine? I know it makes sense to. It looks like its easier to get a 96' AfC where I live and I know the manifolds and throttle body are different, and the pulleys on the front are different also. I'm just not sure about any of the sensors.
