Default How do I pull my ECU?

I have a 1990 90 quattro with a bad ECU. Does anyone have instructions on how I can pull it to get the part number? It seems easy enough to access on the passenger floor but I'd like a couple tips so I don't break anything, thanks.

So,make sure,
all accessories off and remove key then disconnected battery.
removed lower cover,
pull the wiring harness little bit (makes longer)
then loose clip with "L" shaped screw driver (hand made tool)
pulling housing of connector down while pushing the clip to harness side with special tool ( very hard to release this clip)
removed lower holding clip on ECM
then pull down the ECM ( not easy )
ECM #?
To Install, reverse removal procedure. good luck. x19

It would be much easier to have someone, mechanic or otherwise, to hook up a vag-com, do a scan and it will tell you the code/partnumber of the module that it is testing. This site http://www.12v.org/engine/index.php?section=hw shows the control module numbers and when they were used in production. In short, it says you will have a 4A0 906 266 or a 8A0 906 266 with varying letter identifiers, such as A, B , C etc depending on your model and year. That number shows when the vag-com interrogates the module to test it. Somebody back me up on that.
