Audi Cabriolet idle question
The Vacuum system is extensive, and incorporates other systems not so named. Find a Vacuum System diagram and start with a simple visual <i>and physical</i> check of the hoses. This may involve leak and leak-down checks. The small diameter ones will give you plenty to do; to start. He is suggesting this because these are the easiest, cheapest and most likely to cause said issue.
Afterwards, you can move on down the trouble-shooting list from simple/quick/cheap to more complex/slower/$ i.e. the big vac. hoses, the EVAP System, Crank-case Vent System, the ISV cleaning procedures, etc.

Get in there and check the throttle cable. It's basically the same thing as the brake cable on a 10-speed bike. When the outside of the cable pulls out of the brake itself, it rests on the lip of where it's supposed to fit into, instead of going all the way back in. It stays tight. Same thing here, I think.
You probably knocked your throttle cable when you missed the dipstick tube trying to put it in the first time. Pushing down on the cable without realizing, you knocked the end of the housing out of its mount on the throttle body, and there is no slack for the throttle return to reach idle.
Your check engine light will be on soon, as the car won't like not being able to activate the closed throttle position switch when you let all the way off the gas.
