Ignition coils replaced; TT is a great car again! :)
My 2000 TT has not been included in any coil pack recall. I've never thought that I had any problems with them. Until about a month ago...
It felt like dirty gasoline at first: a few minor glitches in the acceleration. Then one morning, I couldn't drive at all and drove the car to the shop in a very limpy way. (I don't think it was the official limp mode of the car.)
They found out that cylinder 1's coil was bad and recommended replacing all four. Makes sense...
My car runs amazingly smoothly now!
Apparently I had grown into accepting little glitches in acceleration as normal over the years. Very different now: I can lift my foot from the accelerator as little as I want and step on it again anytime I want. Even mid corner... Everything is very responsive and smooth... 
The responsiveness makes the car feel powerful too.
