Well guys I think my 93 90cs is kaputt
I got my 1993 audi 90 when I was 17. Paid 5k for it and boy did I have fun. One night I had a little to much fun and got into a bad accident.
I was coming over the crest of a hill on some backroads when I saw cop lights flashing in front of me. I was cruising somewhere in the vacinity of 110-120 mph. Not really having time to react I pulled the wheel right and went flying off the road, over a 5 foot drop and into a cornfield. The next thing I remember was a cop knocking on my window. I got a ticket for "driving to fast for conditions" and had to tow my car. The bad news came the next day, the car was totaled.
All 4 wheels needed to be replaced as well as most of the suspension. My family decided that since the body of the car hadn't been damaged at all, we would take it to a mechanic and see if he could get us a better price. He said he could get everything done for 2k, we bought the car from the insurance company for 300 dollars.
Car was great after that, had to put maybe 600 dollars into it over the next 5 years. Amazing car for the terrible P.A. winters, I literally never got stuck in the snow, never had an issue starting it.
Then the problems started, I had subwoofers and new speakers installed in the car when i bought it, and one day the subwoofers overloaded their amp and blew it. I disconnected them and moved along, I never listened to rap anyway.
I take it to get inspected in 2011 and the mechanic tells me my exhaust is leaking, and that the odometer needs to be fixed for it to pass inspection. I was basically broke as **** at this point and just said **** it, Ill drive it uninspected.
Fast forward a year later, Im outside my car about to lock it and the locks start going crazy, literally. The car alarm would arm whenever I unlocked the car and disengage when i would lock the car. Also whenever Id start the car the alarm would go off, but the car would still start after disabling the alarm. However whenever the car is started the locks constantly lock and unlock. I have some money to throw around now and Im wondering if you guys have any insight about these issues.
1. Is the issue with a locks caused by a problem with the cars cpu?
2. What would be your break off price to get it fixed
3. If its to expensive should I junk it, or sell it( remember it has an R title)
4. What other major problems am i looking at in the near future, at 142k miles right now
thanks guys and merry christmas
whats wrong with the odometer? did it stop rolling? if so, that's an easy fix, may take you about 3 hours.
and what exactly is wrong with the exhaust? did it rust, or dose something just needs to be tweaked? how bad is your rust underneath the car?
needs

2 front brakes and rotors
2 front axels

Ive been looking at the site www.discountgermanparts.com/
has anyone done business with them
$37.13 REPA288202 wheel bearing
$85.16 EMP808100 axels
$85.16 EMP808100
$190.00 tires
$37.95 W0133-1613475 rotors
$37.95 W0133-1613475
$56.00 E35UD419 front brake
~520.00 for parts
then there is the odometer issue.
i found a new gear for #10-013 $28.00
on http://www.speedometergears.com/volv...odometer-gears
so now roughly 550.00 for parts. My main concern is that sure this fixes things for now, but with the age of the vehicle is an 800.00-900.00 investment really a good idea for this car?
Reman front brakes are cheap, I bought mine from O'reillys for $60.
That guy was charging full retail. As noted you can buy all the needed parts for 1/2 the price.
Tires, check tirerack, you can get a pair for a decent price depending on brand, style etc.
All the above is not too difficult to fix, the ODO gear is a bit more tricky once the gear snaps.
The ODO gear does not keep the car from running, that you could do later once it is mechanically sound.

Shot of new Reman caliper, new pads and new rotor plus new soft lines.
