New CQ owner, a few questions
Just picked up a 1990 Coupe Quattro. It is a little rough around the edges, but pretty fun to drive. I have a few questions as there are a number of lights/warnings on the dash...
1. Coolant light. The previous owner I got it from said it was just a sensor. Is this the likely culprit? If so, where is the sensor located?
2. "Brake" light shows up on the dash. Does the car have a low brake sensor on the calipers? Does it go bad frequently?
3. Sometimes when coming to a stop, the oil indicator light flashes on the dash. It goes away after I get going again. Checked the oil level and it looks fine. Any reason to be concerned?
I plan on stripping the interior, so if anyone has any bits in mind that they know they want, shoot me a PM. I'll post up in the classifieds section eventually.
2. No the brakes (pads) do not have wear sensors. The light will come on for a pressure issue. Check the fluid and flush first. check the connector on the sensor as it like all the others does get corroded and give false readings.

3. Change the oil as necessary. If horribly bad flush and fill again soon. If the oil pressure is suspect then a manual pressure gauge is a must.
plus the lovely brake bomb
Also, how can I tell if the rear diff is going out? When I go around a right-hand turn (an on-ramp) there is a bit of a grinding noise. Can't tell if it is something rubbing, or if the diff will need a rebuild.
And last question before I get to work on all of this: What parts does this car share with other Audis of the vintage like the 80/90 etc? Is the drivetrain the same? Suspension?
Thanks again. I'll post pics as the transformation to track car gets underway.
