Sorry Im just a little excited after all my time and effort into this and it runs and idles smooth no oil smell and I just checked no oil leaks anywhere underneath. I did all the gaskets and main seals with new clutch, I didnt touch the heads thats the only thing I left alone. I sealed the valleypan properly after sanding it smooth and flat. Evrrything is dry.
Have a Safe and Nice New Years Memebers, I will try too maybe I better meet up with Mr. JD.....
Doing the math, that's a qt for roughly every 20 gals fo gas? I'd expect some blue haze pretty much all the time.
But sure a compression test/leak down would be a really good idea.
Don't forget. When you do a regular oil change, all those nooks and crannies have oil in them even when you drain. That's what check valves are for. You started from completely dry. I'm not surprised that you're low.
Top it up, keep an eye on it, and be cool. One thing I know about 12-valves... if it's unhappy with you, it WILL let you know.
I just moved and its 30f out, and I don't have a cylinder leak down gauge that screw in type anyways.
Maybe I should just drive back down state to a well known Audi shop and just have it diagnosed. I just wrapped up 2200.00 into it with the brakes and struts and engine doing it myself.
With all the Vw I have own I know when a valve stem seal is going or shot you can smell it and see it.
I just want to play it smart I guess before my budget is shot.
