Differences would be even greater if they tested a 535xi. Weighs even more and is slower. And, they tested with a 535i with the electronic handling options, without them, the car is very soft and performs even worse on back roads. And, the pricing comparison is way off. Take away the B&O sound system, and try to equip a 535xi with the equivalent of the Prestige and Driver's Assist Packages, and the BMW comes in almost $10k more than the Audi (I know because I priced both cars before getting the A6).
Personally, I like the looks of the new 5, and the interior, while blander than the A6, is nice and the seats are very comfortable. But, the A6 is hands down more fun to drive, feels far lighter with less bulk and mass, and is the overall winner in my view.
Even Consumer Reports gives it high marks!
After not seeing any 2012s on the road since I got mine 2 weeks ago, I saw 2 this morning on my drive into the office.
