cant communicate with interface vag now? reveresed the black connector

Ok I have been using the usb to serial adapter with a a 3rd party cable black and white connectors, I accidentally reversed the black connector did it damaged the ecu? Everything has been working with my bag software. 95 audi Q

I don't know if there is a fuse they maybe blown, the cable led still lights up but wont communicate.

Note, it was a alpha-bid I bought off ebay with the adapter for a few years ago and I used the vag rosstech shareware, the white and black plugs were rubber not the good molded ones. But I never plugged in the black reversed until tonight.

I hope I didn't damage the ecu, maybe someone knows, I tried searching as I can't be the first that did this by accident.

Maybe it just shorted the chips inside the cable housing. I just don't know now how to double check the ecu diagnostic ports before I spend money on the real Ross_tech setup

I emailed rossTech, he told me I shorted out the interface cable, so I will just get the whole setup from them. He said it was a common thing using the rubber plugs instead of the plastic molded ones.
