Can't get Hidden Menu to display with VAG

Can't get Hidden Menu to display with VAG
So I've searched all over, but can't find anyone that seems to have gotten the Hidden Menu to display on a 2012 A6 (which lacks the "Setup" button referenced in other threads. I enabled the hidden / diagnostic menu using VCDS, but the menu does not appear. I've looked everywhere, tried searches, done the coding a few times, etc.
Should the menu appear immediately after I do the new coding? I checked, and the coding did in fact change, but no menu display. aargh.
