Default European delivery

My current plan is to purchase an A6 this fall using European delivery. I have a few questions:

1. When will the 2013 be available and configurable? Are there any known changes?

2. Are there other color options only available with European delivery? If so, how do I find out what they are?

3. I'd love to try out high speed at the Autobahn, but isn't this an issue with the break-in period?

4. For my 2 week driving period in Europe, will I have European maps in the NAV system, which will then be replaced with US maps on delivery back in the states?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.........

1) Usually around mid-year

2) You can pick any color you can think of, from other posts on this forum I found that you can also choose any color that Audi has previously offered

3) Yes, but isn't it a great problem to have?

4) No, Your car is manufactured with North American maps. From my research you can try to arrange with Audi of America (NOT your dealer) or Audi Corporate (Germany). What AoA tries to do is get you a Garmin or some other device to mount in your car for your trip, which from my research has a mixed chance of happening.

On this specific question, please keep in mind that US spec cars are limited to 130 mph from the factory, so you won't be going any faster than 130 mph even on the Autobahn ...

I spend $300/day on an Audi A8 rental in Germany years ago specifically to go faster (it was electronically limited to 155 mph). My girlfriend was sleeping in the passenger seat while I watched the gas gauge indicator literally move while I was flying down the Autobahn at 256 km/h.

You should be fine at 100 mph, even with the break-in restrictions ... Don't think any German driver waits for 1,000 miles until the start flying down the Autobahn.

I have talked to my dealer here about doing European delivery in the fall and he told me the same thing, that Audi Germany does loan you a Garmin loaded with the German maps to use for the trip.

That's good to know. Also good that you have a dealer that is knowledgeable. A lot of the forum posts that I have read say that most dealers don't know jack when it comes to Euro delivery. Most of them recommend asking AoA directly about Euro delivery details.

Which dealer do you go to?

At 130 I'd need a triple dose of my heart medicines...at 100 only a double dose.
