She is Here!!! - First 4 hrs impressions

Well after 8 weeks wait time, she has finally arrived! A6 Prestige, Oolong Grey, Beige Interior, Cold Weather (I know I am in Houston!!! But you have not driven around with my wife! I Hope!)
Received the car at noon today while it was pouring down!! A wasted detail job from the dealer but oh well!. Then drove it to work and parked it for 2-1/2 hrs......I could hardly wait for the meeting to end. Then drove home.
75 mph - 1800 rpm, this was impressive! Nice pick up from 50 - 70 also. This car really scoots.
Trying to get used to the way the idrive wheel works. You would think that all Germans would design thing the same.. But no, it is opposite directions to go up or down from my 530.
The interior is outstanding. Noticed that they took the CD changer out vs. the car that I test drove months ago (Got a US$350 credit on the invoice)
I was going to start setting things up (Bluetooth, connectivity, etc) but the wife already got in it and left to pick up the kid from school activities!
Will keep you posted and post some pics.

Weird that they removed the CD changer from the glove box, wonder what drove that decision. Specially that they gave you a discount. Another victim of the Japan earthquake?

Congrats!

I picked up my Premium Plus, Ice Silver/Black a week ago & love it. Coming from a C63 AMG, i thought it would feel incredibly slow, but it doesn't. Im very impressed by the pick up.

Yea, I'm curious as to why they removed or did not install the 6 disc CD changer in the glove box. Sounds like a rather odd thing to do without letting you know about before they did it.

Congrats on the new ride. Pretty good lead time as well. Totally agree, the **** is backwards. Took me a month to get used to it.

Honesty, I think CD players in cars are going the way of cassette players. You can store dozens, if not hundreds, of CDs on a single memory card that costs less than $10. Add the ability to create playlists, add artist information/cover images and the only use case for a CD player I can think of is if you want to play one right after you stopped at a store to buy it.

My current vehicle has a single SD card slot along with a 6 CD Changer and an iPod interface. The CD player has been used once in my car ...
