Unknown engine bay electrical plug and broken socket?
Ever since I've owned my 98 C5 2.8 Q Tip I've had a disconnected lead in the engine bay. After inspecting an equivalent C5, I've finally seen where it plugs in on the firewall, only to notice the electrical socket is broken on my car. In trying to source a new socket, Audi Australia have no idea what this plug and socket are or what they're for, and a VAG scan shows no open circuits.
The plug is a generic electrical plug found in lots of places in the engine bay and it plugs into the socket which is part of the grommet in the firewall where the throttle cable passes through. Admittedly pics are of my right hand drive C5, however I figure the same socket would be present on left hand drive cars on the other side of the firewall.
One theory is it runs the AT kick down actuator, however the AT kicks down fine. Another thought (from Audi Aust) is the socket houses a magnetic Reed switch, however if that's correct, they don't know what it might be for.
Until I work out what it is I can't source a replacement part. So does anyone here know what this plug actually connects/runs?

How the AT still kicks down has got me beat though as I would've thought the AT wouldn't kick down at all with that sensor being disconnected?
Could the info to kick down be gathered from both the pedal position and this sensor on the throttle cable, explaining why mine still kicks down (maybe with only info from the pedal)?
As for the air con cutting out at full throttle, I don't know if it does, I'd have to test it.
